Introducing the Big Fish Diving Team...
Tim’s first diving experience was in a gravel pit just outside Bristol in 4c of water back in 1988. Undeterred he saw the light (and felt the warmth!) while on holiday abroad where he completed his PADI Advanced course. It didn’t take long for him to become a PADI Instructor and now, 8 years and more than 3000 dives later, still loves teaching students how to dive in tropical Lembongan, Bali. Along the way he also developed a passion for underwater photography and when not teaching can still be found out on the dive boat, camera in hand (anything to get out of doing the accounts!!).
Debi joins us from Switzerland and can teach courses in Swiss German, German and French. Debi is a great instructor, who puts a tremendous amount of effort into all of her courses. Before becoming a dive instructor, she worked back home as a nurse, which comes across clearly in her patient and caring attitude towards students and divers.
Chris is a British instructor with a very lively personality. He helps to make a friendly and fun atmosphere here at the dive resort and can be guaranteed to get even the most nervous diver smiling again! A former chef, Chris became a dive instructor in 2004 in Honduras and worked there for many years before coming to Asia. He can teach both PADI and SSI courses and also runs the marine life presentations here at Big Fish.
Skinny was born on Lembongan and has worked as a Divemaster on the island for the past 7 years, so has made thousands of dives around the islands. His friendly attitude and sharp eyes underwater make him popular with customers and with so much experience, you couldn't be in better hands! When not diving, he is kept busy with his young daughter.
Kadek Was – Compressor Staff “etc”
Kadek is big assets to the dive shop. Officially he fill our tanks, but in actual fact he does so much more - from loading the equipment on the boat to organising the lunch or helping in the gardens. Kadek is only 18 years old, so not yet married!!
Ibu Wayan’s family built the bungalows originally and she has been an incredible help to us, from the
first moment we arrived. Her colourful personality makes her extremely popular with guests and she is
definitely the person to ask if you need any local island info. Having worked in restaurants her whole
life, she is unbeatable in the kitchen and makes the tastiest pancakes on the island!
Kadek has an incredible ability to work non-stop, from the moment she arrives in the morning until she
finishes work at 1pm, despite having a husband and young son to look after at home. Kadek is the
one to ask if you want to rent a motorbike or get some laundry done and she can be guaranteed upon
to give service with a smile!
Budi is our most versatile employee, so you will see him doing everything from bringing you your
breakfast and watering the garden, to fixing a broken pipe and painting the walls. Because of this, one
of the most popular phrases at the Secret Garden is “ask Budi!” He speaks excellent English and is
happy to assist guests needing help or information. Budi is also happily married with a young son.
Kadek Neka
Ketut started working at the Secret Garden early in 2011 and fitted in straight away with her constant smile and calm personality. She works in the afternoons and can normally be found over by the kitchen; cleaning, ironing or whizzing up a fruit juice for thirsty guests. Kadek also has a baby son to keep her occupied when not working at the bungalows.
What would the Secret Garden be without Caca? This funky little dog gives life and colour to the
bungalows with his crazy yet loveable personality. Caca loves attention almost as much as he loves
food, so if you give him either, he will be a friend for life! He works a 16hour day as security guard and
chicken chaser, taking only a 2.5minute lunch break and asking for only a couple of bowls of food a day in return. Certainly, he is one of our most valued employees and we love him to bits!
